Mary & I were able to finally
make it out this past week-end to a couple Openings. It was a beautiful sunny Saturday and the
only bad thing about the day was we were not able to attend Quaker City YCs
Opening which over the years Mary & I have done many times and enjoyed the
company & hospitality of their members. We will be there next year for sure.
The day started early with a ride up the turnpike to the easy going, slow
paced Yapewi A.C. for their 1:00 Ceremony.
Past DRYL President & Past YAC Commodore Bob Bocock was the MC.
Bob introduced Queen Kaity who did a wonderful job singing the National
Anthem.
YAC Officer Sean Haley had the Honor of escorting his lovely daughter, our
DRYL Queen Kaity up to the podium.

After Bob Bocock officially opened the 2012 Boating Season for YAC the
picnic was started. Some stayed to enjoy an afternoon at YAC and others like
Mary and I ventured south getting in a caravan behind DRYL 1st VP Brasberger
who led the way to River Winds YC Opening Day.Upon our arrival, Rich
Smizer who was the MC got the ceremony started and did a great job of
introducing his Officers, as well as all the visiting club Officers. The sun continued to shine all afternoon making
it the nicest day we have had so far in the 2012 boating season.
The food was out of this world, smoked
brisket, ribs, chicken prepared by EZ Duz BBQ which is owned by NPBC members. There was a complete buffet of other foods as
well including salads & desserts. For me, after being butt bound for close to 3 weeks, it was a day made in
heaven with the Yapewi crew starting it all off, and the River Winds crew rounding
the day out for us. We could not have asked or had a better day, sunshine, surrounded
by good people, laughs - good food and being by the water & boats, truly this
was the recipe that made for this GREAT DAY !!

Memorial Day upon us we should remember to Honor & Give Thanks to our fallen
heros and to men like Ben Sr. who fought for the freedoms we have today.
